Matte Wood is James Jano. He hails from Detroit but resides in Brooklyn. James makes sample and synth-based music centered around dense, quirky rhythms, stream of consciousness compositions, and other descriptors that don’t really mean anything. The name Matte Wood stems from James’ undying love of the matte finish. On wood, in particular.
